UPDATE: 1 Flush, 2 Flush, Red Flush, Blue Flush

Its official, this project (1 Flush, 2 Flush, Red Flush, Blue Flush) is canceled. And to think, I was SO excited about it! My dad came over to check and the change is possible, but only if we remove the toilet's tank replace pretty much all the parts. Um, no thanks!

So basically that leaves us at House- 1, Jenny - 0.

1 Flush, 2 Flush, Red Flush, Blue Flush

Ok so this post will be a to be continued....here is the deal. I wanted to "go green" and install a dual-flush system on our master bathroom toilet. Supposedly it saves you some money and with how high our water bills have been recently I'll take what I can get!

I went to our trusty Home Depot and got the Hydro-Right Dual Flush Converter for the bargain price of $20 awhile ago and finally got up the guts and ambition to install it on Saturday morning. I got up and was eager to go to work. Took my "before" picture...

...removed the lid and got ready to got to work.

Ok, everything looks pretty normal until I'm reading the directions and realize that the flapper thingy that covers the hole is supposed to be a separate piece from the tube thing according to their directions so that their big piece can attach (right under the silver button)...and we don't have one. Dang.

A good bit of googling later (let me tell you how easy that is when you don't know the name of the parts...) and I discover that we have a "Mansfield Valve." Sounds like something from the 20s right? In order to install the dual-flush I need a Douglas Valve. So far from everything I've read it looks as though you have to remove the tank...ummm no thanks.

I'm going to confer with the dad and will get back to you on the validity of this experiment. So far the DIY gods are just laughing down upon me. Oh well, another day, another project...

Flushed

Well thats technically how I should look with a bathroom looking like this. It all started with the shower curtain which I had a temporary crush on (it has since faded away). I decided that I wanted to be a rebel and not getting a matchy matchy rug and that I would "pull the blues out of the curtain." Uhhh no blues in sight, well except for that rug. Time for a re-do. The bones of this bathroom are pretty much perfect, I'm just not thrilled with my decor thus far.

The one thing I do like here is my little cluster of stuff. The Neiman Marcus frame was given to me for Christmas last year by a good family friend. I got the little yellow vase from a store called Dutchmans, the flowers from Pottery Barn and the blue vase was my great-grandmothers. The little soap dish is a pretty new addition from Mast General Store.

Things we have left to do here:

1. Get a new shower curtain - As much as I hate the price of $120 for a shower curtain. I love this shower curtain from Anthropologie, the bustling makes it so feminine. I guess I will either have to suck it up or try to find something similar that I like just as much.

2. Get a new bath mat - The one we have is pretty shabby looking (see So Fresh and so Clean, Clean for what happened) so I want to update what we've got. Once again Anthropologie wins out.

3. Get art for above the toilet - I want something nice and colorful which I think could help to brighten up the whole room as it will be reflected directly in the mirror across.

4. Get 3 assorted sized glass pieces - I'd like something like the below to hold sample soaps, cotton balls, you know the typical bath supplies. I'm sure I can find something similar at a flea market or antique store. I may even pick up a few for our bathroom because I like them so much.

5. Get "oil-rubbed bronze" faucet - I think I'd pretty much like something similar to what I'm planning on replacing the faucet downstairs with. Here is a reminder for ya.

6. Place a picture in that frame...finally - I was waiting for one of our wedding pictures and lately I just keep forgetting to do it. I already know which one I want to feature, the one of us leaving is one of my favorites. Luckily I work at an ad agency and have someone I can get to retouch it in order to remove the petal from my eye and pull my dress up a bit. The starch got a little loose by the end of the night due to all of the dancing...

Excuse Me While I Powder My Nose

Powder Room, Half-Bath, Water Closet. There are lots of names for it but when you really think about it none seem to truly fit. Anyways, meet our guest bathroom.

Its got some good bones, pretty basic but it does its duty. The trash can & toilet paper box were my birthday gifts from Tim's mom and yes, they are from Pottery Barn. The candles and holders were a wedding/housewarming gift from Tim's parent's neighbors. They fill up that empty spot and the candles are vanilla scented which is pretty awesome because you can smell them each time you walk by.

Things we have left to do here:

1. Get a vanity sink - When we first built the house we had the option to do a vanity sink then but didn't have the money. This is still a long term goal but I like the idea of having a place to put some stuff without worrying about it falling into the sink. Restoration Hardware has one, for an insane $2,000 on sale, that I will be using as a reference point to find one for us. They even offer the Crema Marfil Marble which matches the hearth of our fireplace.

2. Get a rug - Yet again, not surprising, but for two in a row I have found them other places than Pottery Barn. This one is on sale for only $14 at Ballard Designs, think I'm going to take the plunge and get this for sure.

3. Get a snazzy new faucet for the pretty new vanity - All of our accessories are oil-rubbed bronze so I want to get something to match. I found a vintage looking one I'm a pretty big fan of over at Delta.

4. Get some art - I love these prints from Ballard Designs. I'd have to wait until they actually arrived to decide if I'd put them over the toilet or on the bigger wall to the left of it. I do like the way all of them look together though so I guess that means I need to buy the set.
