No Excuses

There've been quite a few changes in my life recently not limited to a new job, raising almost $15,000 for cancer research, dealing with multiple different courses of treatment for Tim (and about to start a new one), trying to keep a house together, trying to keep my sanity & trying to keep up a social life, but honestly I just got bored of blogging for awhile (pbly bc I've been keeping up with Tim's blog so much). Still probably won't be back full time but thought I'd catch everyone up on what I've been up to lately!

So here are a few posts you can look forward to reading sometime (hopefully soon):

A new dog bed - constructed by me (& my dad)
My latest obsession - Accupuncture!
Dehydrating Food - aka what not to do
Refinishing a buffet - still can't believe I did it
Some things I'm dreaming about right now
Hanging a flatscreen/hiding the cables
New kitchen rug, trash can (& soon curtains)
New hallway runner(s) & art
New bedroom art
Restructuring the bathroom gallery wall
Curtains for the front door
New art for the den & new (to us) couches
San Francisco Trip
Refresh of the pantry
Little landscaping refresh
Garage Clean-out/Basement Organization

And here are some (hopefully) upcoming projects that will be happening at the hizzay sooner than later:

Cabinets in the laundry room
Replace transom in the laundry room (seriously dad...lets finish this one! :))
Staining/sealing the back deck (yep 2 1/2 years later we still haven't done this)
More landscaping...
Master Bedroom curtains
Hallway Art Project
Master Bedroom Art Project(s)
Front/Back Hall Light Replacements (might as well do it at the same time)
Front Hall Rug

....told you I've been busy.

I'm Back!

So its been a crazy few months but I think we have our feet (mostly) back under us again (as they should be). I'll spare the details but essentially Tim is still on chemo and likely will be indefinitely. The good news out of all of this is that we now know the drill and have a schedule of basically holing up in the house every other Wed-Fri as he receives treatments.

My job has been AMAZING, I can't say enough good things about them. They've allowed me to work from home on the days Tim is getting treatment which is such a huge stress relief for me and it allows me to make sure he is getting enough fluid intake.

In the midst of everything else we've also seen just how incredible people are. We've been surrounded by an incredible generous group of friends & family which we've known for some time but all of them as well as many strangers have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help us through some of the most trying of times over the past few months.

I haven't been up to too much over the past few months but I have made a few edits to the house here & there & have picked up a few skills (that I'm still pretty rusty at) to help with stress relief and keep me busy. We're working on improving our eating habits (its a sloooooow improvement) so I'll be sure to start sharing the recipes that are actually good in case anyone else cares to clean-up their eating as well. I will state for the record that I really miss processed food right now :).

So lots to come! (ok, technically not lots as of right now but I work in advertising so I had to add a little spin!)

A Wrench Thrown Into Our Lives

So I know I've been kind of spotty over the last few weeks and I've decided to hang up the towel on this blogging thing for the time being.

You see today we found out my husband's cancer is back and has spread to his lungs. To say we've had the wind knocked out of us would be a major understatement. The next couple of weeks are going to entail more tests, doctors, specialists and still somehow trying to manage having a "normal" life and following all of that will be another round of chemo with who knows what after. As much as I love blogging it just takes up too much of my time and I'm becoming resentful of that considering I want to spend as much time as I possibly can right now with the love of my life. I may come back every once in awhile to use this as a release and a distraction from everything else in my life but right now I want to keep myself from starting to hate something that I currently enjoy so much.

I'll be back one of these days and until then please just keep my sweet Tim in your prayers. He can use all he can get right now, you can follow his progress here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/timbright.

Thank you!

Yay, You!

"You did it!/ You're done!/ You made it!/ You're through! OH WHAT A GREAT MOMENT!"
- Sandra Boynton

He's amazing, the bravest person I know and he is done with chemo. Kicked cancer's behind and has some pretty cool scars to show for it. I'm so incredibly amazed, proud, thankful and just blessed to have him in my life. I love him more than words can express and I'm so grateful that I get to spend my life with him. Happy Birthday babe and Congratulations on reaching remission. I'm so incredibly proud of your fight and glad we can get our forever started. I love you.

All Clean

I originally said that I would blog Mon - Fri at least while I'm showing you our house but I've decided to take the night off from a normal post. You see, back in January, the hubs was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer and today we got back the results of his first completely clean scan. Chemo still isn't complete and we still have a long road to go with lots of testing left to do but this is a HUGE step towards getting this monster out of our lives once & for all. So I'm sure you understand that I have a need to go celebrate this big occasion with my amazing hubster.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
